All India Unani Tibbi Congress meeting held at Dehradun
Dehradun: An important meeting of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress was held at Uttarakhand Provincial Office at Dehradun under the chairmanship of Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad. Dr. Syed Farooq Sahib (Chief Patron, All India Unani Tibbi Congress) personally well organized the meeting. All the participants expressed their happiness for this good deed.
Several important proposals were unanimously approved in the meeting. In the meeting, the demand for the establishment of prominent Freedom Fighter Maseehul-Mulk Hakeem Ajmal Khan University was repeated and it was said that the establishment of National Unani University has become indispensable for the full promotion and development of Unani medicine. The meeting demanded the provincial governments to ensure the appointment of deputy director level Unani officers in the AYUSH department established in the state. In Gujarat, West Bengal and Uttarakhand prejudice against Unani medicine still continues. This is the reason why the construction work of the Government Unani Medical College at Kaliyar Shareef (Uttrakhand) has been stopped.
The meeting also demanded the creation of a separate board for Unani medicine in the commission NCISM established by the central government, as the board established under the commission includes regional indigenous medicine along with Unani medicine and like Ayurveda in the country is equally popular throughout.
The meeting also demanded the central government to restore the right to Surgery which was already practiced in Unani medicine equivalent to Ayurveda and to increase the number of CGHS Unani dispensaries. Because the number of people availing Unani medicine through CGHS is increasing continuously, but even after more than two decades, not a single new dispensary of Unani medicine has been opened while 52 dispensaries of Ayurveda have been opened last year.
